Revenge

It was again a foggy morning as always. People started building back their homes after the big battle that had just took place. The castle stood still . It was made of rock, everything was made of rock in the inside and outside of the palace. On the other side the villages started throwing whatever they could find, at the castle and guards. The guards struggled controlling them. All the villages were angry at the king for excepting battles. The whole place was a mess as the free animals wandered by and leaving droppings behind for the villages to clean up. The spell workers house was splashing with different colour as he tried mixing potions together, just to break the evil witches spell. The evil witches cursed the whole place to fog everyday none stop. This happened because the king did not give them their share of goods.

That night a cry filled the entire castle, echoing in the  rooms. A child was born out of the queen that night. She wished and prayed it was a girl. The castles maid women ran in and out of the room, rushing to find what they needed. As the baby came out the queen ordered for everyone to wait outside the room except her best trusted maid (Theresa). The king then banged open the door, rushing into the room to check on the baby. The queen cried and sobbed and begged the king. As soon as the king saw the crying baby, he turned bright red with anger. He had always wanted a baby girl but no. The poor queen sobbed as the maid tried to comfort her and she knew what was going to happen, the baby was going to be killed the next morning. The baby stopped crying and went to sleep. The queen felt his gingery hair and he opened his green eyes.

Early the next day the king called for his guards to bring the baby at once. Moments later the baby was bought . The king, himself held the baby with anger and uncovered the blanket. He was angrier than ever as the baby was replaced  by a dog. That same morning the queen was bought but she grew quiet. The king than killed her himself. He was sending his knights to search all over the kingdom and outside of it.

Theresa held the baby carefully as she crossed the creaking bridge with her horse. She checked the baby once more than carried on with her journey. She knew what was right when the queen gave her the child. She was getting worried in case someone had seen and reported her.She was going to raise the prince alone with her husband and 7 year old son. Outside of the kingdom where they lived no one ruled over them so they were quiet happy.
15 years went by and the prince was growing up to be really strong. He learned a lot from his 22 year old brother, at least he thinks it's his brother. He was getting better and better with swords.
'Did you hear that the king had adopted an orphan girl? Theresa asked her husband'
'She's going to rule one day, James replied' They chatted for a little while and decided to tell Arthur the whole story of his real life. At the end Arthur had trouble taking it in as it was really hard.
Another 9 years passed by and Arthur knew all he had to slice someone in the throat. He was getting very angry and he knew what he had to do. He was going to get revenge back to the king and whoever got into his way.

Dreamscape

It was a rainy Tuesday, the day was stormy and windy, it was a terrible day for playing outside. So my family and I went bowling. Once we got there and my Mum payed, it was my turn to bowl. And that was when the strange things happened.


I was lining up for my bowl, when I saw smile dog and I got so scared, I threw the bowling ball high in the air. It fell down and splattered my sister's face. I started freaking out because the walls were closing in and I keep hearing mentally creepy laughter. Suddenly it was just dark and I was all alone except for the crazy puppet rocking in the rocking chair.


He was calling my name in a devilish tone. He asked if I wanted to play suicide bowling. I nodded in agreement, he gave me ball and said ''if you get ten strikes in a row, I will let you live. 9 strikes in a row later....I was on my final strike. I was breathing in and out deeply, thinking what will happen if I miss. Then i bowled and it looked perfect(like it was going to be a strike!)But the puppet got so angry he turned onto a monster and used his mystical third eye to move the ball with his mind control into the gutter.

I froze in fear and horror as he turned into  a horrific beast and shouted in the most terrifying  and mystifying  voice you would ever hear''YOU LOSE"".  I was having a massive fit, all I could see was black and white, I thought I was going mental. So I did something crazy, I tackled him down the bowling ally and the strangest thing happened, we were flying through all my wildest dreams. But suddenly he just evaporated into the spacey darkness , I landed right next to a graveyard.


I heard rustling in the bush, when I noticed fiery red and purple eyes.''I nearly forgot about this dream'' I said. That's when I realized  in exactly 3 seconds the dogs of the devil were hunting me down. I saw a whizz through the air, then I dropped to my knees and noticed I was in a dark room. I felt a a pain in my shoulder, I noticed there was blood on the floor.... and an arrow in my shoulder. I was gasping in pain, when I saw a gun held against my head, and to think this all started with a simple round of bowling. I would never see my Mum, Dad,Sister, Family and Friends. Before I could discuss my negotiations.I heard a deafening BANG!!.

Wannabe- By Gemma

I'm breathing fast and uneasy, my heart's beating like someone's playing drums with it. I look down and think" I should have listened to Mummy and Daddy."
But I know there's no going back. I'm on this rackety bridge, scared to freezing point. I can barely see what in front of me but I know it's not going to be pleasant. It could be anyone else who's doomed on this bridge, but it's me, Alexander Higgins, the wannabe Prince. On my Pony, Night, trying to show everyone I can do it by defeating the Queen of Ethiopia.

Its dark out and I can just see the silhouette of the castle from the edging sunset behind it.
" I have to do this." I think determinedly in my mind.
Before I even know the words come out of my mouth commanding Night to ride. He does,and as soon as I know we are galloping as fast as a little girl on a tricycle. I shut my eyes, wishing, hoping we make it. I hear Night walking on stable ground and I'm relieved, easing myself. I can't help but do a little dance to congratulate myself. With armor on it's not that easy.
"Next step, the castle!" I say in the most manliest voice I could handle.

The next few minutes were slow and terrifying. I see; skulls in ponds, dead gardens and... and guards as hard as rocks. I cautiously slide off Night and tie him to one of the dead apple trees. Acting as tree, I  sneak past the guards. Well, that was easy. I brush my shoulders acting cool. Dust flies everywhere. I give a little sneeze and quickly draw my sword. Walking incircles to make sure no one heard and is coming to get me. No signs. Crash! They did hear that. I watch as a crystal jug shatters to pieces on the floor. I shrug my shoulders, then freeze. I hear someone walking from a flight of stairs. I have to say, this castle is pretty impressive; chandlers hanging from the roof, expensive paintings everywhere. I'm astonished. Back to the walk. It sounds like stilettos. I can see a face peek around the corner. It's, oh no... the almighty Queen of Ethiopia- and she doesn't look impressed.

I have a little chuckle and say exaggerated "That painting wouldn't of been expensive."
She growls at me then spots something outside. She gives me a look of ambition and slaps her thigh. Poof! All I see is my Pony Night, he looks different... I've got it. His eyes are grey like the Queens and I relies, she's out skilled me. I can't kill my Pony.

I stare for a while and think about how I might die; maybe I'll end up as one of those skulls in the pond. No. My eyes widen with the thought of a brilliant idea. Brussel sprouts. They make Night sleep. I grab some from my pocket ( luckily I brought them as a substitute for sleeping pills for Night) and shove them in his mouth. He chews, he swallows and yes! He falls to the ground with a loud thump. I put her in a rubbish bin to sleep. Now I have a castle to myself. I sit in the throne and say "Queen, you've just been defeated by the wannabe."

Did we forget something? / Rhys

One bright and sunny evening four friends went for a day of fun. They went to an indoor paintball arena just outside the boarder of un-dead valley. In the arena it was a dark and spooky place with paint splattered everywhere. Since it was getting dark the owner turned all the lights on appeared at the counter with his mask on. We were paying when he got a phone call and this person had a very weird and creepy voice. We could just make out what he said " as promised there will be one nailed to the wall for you".........

Since it was Sam, Blake and Jeremy's first time they were pretty freaked out about getting shot. They were all scared but Rhys wasn't. If anything he was feeling a bit to confident and devious. For him it was becoming a hobby.

Once they were finished gearing up everybody started to feel more confident in them selves and the look on Rhys' face meant that there is going to be so vengeance in the up coming battle. By the time they started the first round it was 8:00pm and Sam's mum still hadn't checked on them but we didn't mind they to play. The starting horn went off and we were ready to fight. Seconds later they all heard a door slam and the lights were turned of but they thought that the owner was just trying to scare them. Rhys looked at his ammo to check how much he had left and noticed that they were glow in the dark paintballs so he yelled " HEY CHECK IT OUT TH PAINTBALLS ARE GLOW IN DARK''
and then everybody shot the walls. They carried on with there game

Shot after shot after shot. There was a constant firing in the arena with little 3-4 second silences. In one of those silences we heard a loud groan it sounded like a zombie from black ops 2. Sam and Jeremy silently gapped it over to Rhys and Blake. We all heard slow footsteps creeping closer to Rhys and Blake. It stopped for a brief moment and then started to creep towards Sam and Jeremy. Rhys and Blake were guarding the left side and Sam and Jeremy were guarding the right side. More footsteps creped up on Sam and Jeremy until it stopped. Sam had the expression on his face that said what the heck is happening. Jeremy was so relived when the footsteps had stopped he let out a massive sigh when it all went wrong. Rhys shrugged and went back to guarding his side. They all heard a massive roar that echoed in the arena when they realised that Jeremy was gone.

Everybody was freaking out and it didn't get better for them because then these things attacked. Millions of slow foot steps moving in on the on target Sam Blake and Rhys. Waiting to see one of these beings. Waiting for something to show a bit of its body. Waiting for some one to step up and lead them so Sam and Rhys they both said "COME AT ME".
Mean while Blake is still in the corner freaking out thinking are these guys crazy they are so crazy. Coming around the corner Rhys saw a foot, then its arm then its eyes. That things eyes were blue but it wasn't there long enough to confirm because Rhys had already shot its head off. The rest of its body evaporated into dust and so the battle began. Bullet after bullet one zombie went down one at a time but they quickly learnt and adapted to Sam Blake and Rhys' defence. They came in twos, Threes even fours. They climbed walls and the obstacles. Rhys realised that he was running low on ammo. First Blake ran out then Sam and then Rhys. Luckily Rhys had bought just enough time for a plan. Rhys looked at Sam and said "well we tried we came this far and I'm not going out like this"
Sam said " What's the plan ''?
Rhys said " its the paint don't like the paint that's why they evaporate!"
Rhys wiped the wall and smeared it all over his knuckles and said '' this is my plan "
He goes up to a zombie and smacks it right in the jaw knocks his head of and looks at Sam. wiping the walls punching the zombies trying to keep there distance.

They weren't looking behind them and got a massive fright when they heard paintball gun fire. " Its the owner " Sam screams. He cleared the whole lot of zombies with his fully automatic paintball gun. Everybody was so relived because the battle was all over. The owner turned the lights on and hurried us out and locked the door. Rhys looked backed and the owner took his mask off Rhys saw a glance and saw the blue eyes..........

When Sam Rhys and Blake got home they had a feeling that they left something behind.................

The owner goes into the arena and as he was promised by the mysterious man on the phone a body for him nailed to the wall to fest on.                          

MY DOG- Shayle

I have a little dog,
A dog named Daisy,
She's not very lazy.
She looks like a teddy bear,
and loves to tear,
UP EVERTHING!
Shes a little vaccum,
Shes a little terror,
I think she once had dread locks,
She will play,
Any day,
Shes you spare pillow,
but wait there is also her dark side,
she is VERY sneeky,
She is a loud little critter,
and quite a spitter so...

Warriors update / Rhys

HI GUYS!!!!!!!!!

So today the Warriors faced the Melbourne Storm and had now doubts that the storm were looking to win. In the first half the Warriors were leading the Storm 18-4 which is a bad start for the defending champions. Warriors won this game 30-22 and they are placed 9th on the table drawn with the Newcastle Nights which are 8th they both have 22 points. next week the warriors face the sharks. If we win this game and Newcastle loses we are 8th on the ladder drawing with the raiders sharks and bulldogs. If the Warriors win there next games they are sure to a spot in the top 8.

PACIFIC RIM / Rhys

HI GUYS!!!!!!!!

So on Thursday I went to the most epic movie out right now. I went and saw Pacific Rim. The movie is about legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, that's when a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots,defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse. (c) Warner Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenceless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. What will the humans do save themselves from extinction.   

I thought that I was let down because my expectations were so high from everybody telling me about how cool it was but other than that it was epic!!!!!!!

It Was An Accident! -Finau

The sky was covered with a blanket of blue in the morning of the summer holidays, the wind blew gently it shook the willow trees making the leaves fall landing peacefully above the water in the creek. 3 rabbits scurried away and jumped into a hole behind a tree.

 I almost fell off my horse, Patches, when I tried tying back my long brownish blond hair.The creek was my most favourite  place in the farm because of its peacefulness. I was allowed to come here whenever I want but I wasn't allowed to climb the trees anymore, I fell down and twisted my ankle the last time I tried to climb the tallest willow. On the grass nearby some cows stared at me and mooed as if they were trying to warn me about something, they ran to the far side of the paddock. I thought they were overall the weirdest animals at our the farm. All I know about the cows is that they are never close to the creek, it’s like they are afraid of it, and the second thing I know about them is that two of them died and were found beside a willow tree. No one knows how the cows died, they were just found because of the smell, so now Grandpa and Grandma are now hiring someone to look after the farm with us.

I tied patches to the tallest willow tree, gave him a sugar cube and started climbing the tallest willow myself, I know that I shouldn't be climbing but sometimes I just have to because of the great feeling I have when I've reached the top. I went higher and higher breaking really big branches off out of my way and finding footholds to push myself higher, I have never been this higher before. All the cows were now staring at me. I almost made it up, just 2 more footholds then I'm at the top of the tallest tree then the branch I was holding on to on my left side broke and I had a terrifying feeling. I started finding another branch and then thought that I was going to be a goner like the cows who died. I started to cry and luckily there was were no bikers nearby to see me, I didn't know if that was a good or bad thing if there was a biker that could actually help me. Instead I found a hole in the tree but didn't want to put my hand in it, goodness knows what’s in there. My hand was slipping fast and I had no chances so I shoved my hand in the hole and held on.

 I couldn't hold on forever so I had to find a way down. Patches watched what happened from the beginning and was so frightened he started pulling on his hitch rope making the whole tree shake. I tried to come him down telling him that I was just fine and finally he did calm down and went to sleep on the spot. After a while my hands started to shake and something was crawling on my face, then it went down on my neck and started crawling on my elbow ,I took a peek and then my heart skipped a beat, it was a spider, it was a white tailed spider!. I sreamed at the top of my voice and let go. I felt myself falling down, down, down and then I felt my head hit something and I was unconscious.

well that was so fun if you like the look of these yummy piklets I will list the recipe below :
What You Need:

• 1 Cup of self raising flour
• 1 tbsp. caster sugar
• 3/4 cup of milk
• 1 egg
• butter for cooking
• salt
• sift
• 2 medium mixing bowls
• 1 large mixing bowl
• whisk
• spoon
• frying pan
• spatula
• oil

1. sift flour and caster sugar together in to the large mixing bowl.
2. whisk the milk & egg together and add the dry ingredients and a pinch of salt.
3. whisk Intil smooth.
4. set up frying pan set high FOR WARMING ONLY.
5. Add oil and butter slowly pour the piklet mix onto the frying pan
6. flip when bubbles have covered the top of the picklet
7. flip and repeat step 6 .

It wasn't the best time I've had these holidays it was probably the most annoying day I've had these holidays because you don't know what people r going to do like I crashed because there was two idiots that were in front of me wrestling try to push each other over and I tried to go around them and one guy pushed his friend into me and we both crashed against the wall and I was like the cushion because he got up and like just left with his friend. But it was fun and I a
m going again sometime so I cant wait.

I survived!- Gemma

I survived; no internet, restless days sitting on the couch with nothing to do, bored conversations with April, no animals to keep me occupied and no sense of direction to go for a run by myself. But I am back home now with everything to keep me satisfied. It's back to work soon with netball trainings and games though.

On Sunday afternoon my Uncle drove me to Ngatea - a small town situated in the Hauraki Plains- to where my Nana (along with my other Grandparents and Aunty and Uncles and cousins) live. The first night I was there we played scrabble. We were sitting on these cube like cushions when the house started to move. We looked up and the lights were swinging from side to side. I stood up and it felt like I just came off a boat, trying to stand up straight. I realised we were in an earthquake! It was a weird but amazing feeling (that's from me having never been in an earthquake before). The swaying settled down after about a minute and from watching the news we found that the earthquake was centred in Wellington (this is a particularly long way from Ngatea). That was an exciting night but I knew I still had to survive the next few days.

Monday morning came quite quickly with the electric blanket 'heating' me off to sleep. I'm not use to staying at Nana's by myself because normally I stay with my cousin, Zoe. So, I just did what I would usually do at home(because my Nana was snoring away in a deep sleep); pour myself some cereal (in this case, muesli), turn the heater on, sit on the couch and watch some television. Finally, Nana awoke so I didn't feel so alone and told me to get ready because we were picking up Zoe and heading to Thames. We went to Dick Smith and Noel Leeming to find a charger for my cousin's phone. Then we went to Kiwi Bank for my cousin. As you may have found out this was an extremely boring trip for me. The rest of the day was as boring. I still had to survive a couple more days of this.

Tuesday arrived with horrible weather and a new royal baby boy. My Nana was so amused and never changed the news channel. Because it was such a 'special' day we went to the Corogate Café. This café is England crazy and was advertised in the Women's Weekly, the news and the Hauraki Herald. So Nana decided what better time to go then now. We picked up her friend Carol ,who is from England, and headed to the café. As soon as we walked through the door we could see how English fanatic they were. In the café there were; cardboard cut outs, statues and memorabilia of the royal family from all generations, a royal nursery, foods and sweets such as mushy peas and polo mints from England and the ceiling was fully covered in finished jigsaw puzzles! It was overly amazing. It must have taken ages but not even getting started with all the expenses. One morning left.

Wednesday, here I am enjoying typing this very long piece of writing about my holidays. But I survived. My Nana is thinking about what I am doing next holidays... 

Hey Guys - Chloe

On Saturday i went to see Despicable me 2 and it was so cool and  way different too the first movie and i got a massive scare when the purple minions popped up.
On Thursday of the first week of the holidays Me my Brother Kyrus and Daniel watched Monsters university that was so cool Mike wazoski is so cute when he was in primary school. Well the movie is about When Mike wazoski's life long dream is to become a scarer at monsters inc and he sure knows just how to do it. Ever since Mike wazoski was in primary school he always wanted to work at monsters inc but to work at monsters inc you need to be trained so go to university Mike Wazoski wanted to go to monsters university home of the worlds top scare program. Now a Freshman hopeful scare student . The little green eyed monster has more confidence , enthusiasm , determination and heart than all of he's classmates combined . But when Mike gets sees the chance to win a challenge that could get him working at monsters inc  he gathers a team to compete against here are the teams

Aprils Holiday Update

Hey guys,

Last Friday my house was turned from ugly to amazing as in  we had our wallpaper done.  It looks amazing and I wish you guys could see it but unfortuatly you can't but I will send you some photos when everything is back up on the walls.

Also on Saturday was Lucys awesome sleep-over. It was so fun! We watched some movies, Played a table-tennis tortament (Gemma was 1st and I was 2nd), We made home made pizza and had an amazing cake. When we went to bed we started talking about scary storys then kylie (lucys mum) came in and scared Jansje, Gemma and I to death. She told us to go to sleep but all our energy from her coming in and scaring us we couldn't.  Eventually we got to sleep at 2 in the morning!

On Wednesday 24th its the BMX World Champs At The Vector Arena.  My cousin is racing in the 10 year old group and is racing people from Japan, Australia and loads more other countries from around the world.  My family and I are going to support him and have a great time.  I will update about this on Thursday and post about everything exciting that has been going on in my holidays.

Happy Birthday!- By Gemma

Hi everyone,

As many of you may know it was Lucy's 13th birthday yesterday (20th July)! She had a sleepover and it was great fun. We watched movies all night, had pillow fights in the dark, made our own pizza(which I have to say turned out to be really professional), stayed up until in the morning, got scared by Kylie (Lucy's Mum) at 1:00am and played a ping pong tournament (which I won).

During the night we watched three movies; So Undercover, Parental Guidance and last we watched Pitch Perfect. After the first movie we took a break to play a ping pong tournament. This tournament was so intense. We had a lot of laughs at people (Charlotte) who apparently couldn't see the ball coming which was why she kept missing it and for the people that thought the aim of the game was to hit the ball off the table. We finished the tournament and went to go make and cook our pizzas. They came out to be very outstanding pizzas. Then we changed into pour pyjamas and had a pillow fight in the dark and continued to watch the last two movies. Finally we got through the movies and just started talking. Kylie did not like this. She came down stairs just as we started talking about scary things, she poked her head through the door and scared April, Jansje and I to death! She told us to whisper and go to sleep. Eventually we did what she said and fell asleep.

Lucy's birthday was great fun and I did not want to go home (reason being I knew I had to go to my Nana's in Ngatea and there's no internet connection and no one to hang out with:]). Thank you Lucy for inviting me, I hope you liked your presents and have fun being a teen!

Lone Star / Rhys

HI GUYS!!!!!!!!

Today I had the best dinner ever because I went to LONE STAR!!!! It was so nice. I always get the same thing because its hard to find what you really prefer. So I got the ribs and they were at there best while they were hot. It took me so long to finish them my Mum and Dad were already talking about desert.

While we were there my Dad noticed that there was some one very famous across from us and he said "look there is Kenny Rogers" and of course a person my age would say who's is Kenny Rogers please leave a comment and tell me who he is. :-D

P.s GO WARRIORS!!!!!!! They won there match against the tigers 14 - 24 and Shaun Johnson got VB Man of the match.
Sadly Benje Marshall is leaving the tigers and not returning to league for a while.

PAINTBALL PAINTBALL PAINTBALL!!!!!!! / Rhys

HEY GUYS!!!!!!

So guess what I went paintballing again except this time I went with Sam, Blake and Jeremy. I think it was fun this time because I wasn't the scared one Jeremy was so of course I was feeling a little evil and we all made him have a great experience except for when we all shot him at once but other than that I think he liked it. Next week me Sam, Blake are looking for some more fun and we would like you to join us. So if you are in leave a comment below.

I just wanted to tell you guys that im having a awesome holiday sitting on the couch waiting for something to happen. I went shopping yesterday and got a onesie.  Like Rhys said "arn't mums the best when they say yes" I totally agree with you.

Tec writing Kaitlyn

Soldering is used to join two objects together by melting the solder wire onto the copper circles this makes a good working circuit.

The solder is made up of two  metals, These different metals tin and lead. There is 60% tin and 40% lead. This type of solder is used in electronics and is called the resin core. The resin is in the centre of the soldering iron and is used to clean the surface of the components to be so that they are clean(make a good circuit and nothing interrupts it).

The soldering iron melts at 180 degrees and if this touches your skin it keeps burning it and takes quite a long time to cool down.  To prevent this from happening place your hand on the handle (plastic so you will not burn) and hold it at a 45 degree angle. Also you will need to hold the soldering metal at a 45 degree angle. This will make it a little bit safer, you will have a less chance of burning yourself if you hold the iron properly.

 

In soldering there are a lot of rules such as; removing jackets, pulling up sleeves, holding solder correctly, wearing safety glasses at all times and a lot more. There are also a lot of components like: circuit board, resisters, power diodes, transistors etc.

Soldering can be frustrating but by being confident, patient and safe you can have a great time!

Hey Guys,

I hope your having a great holiday so far! So far I haven't done anything exciting. I have gone to the park with Jess and we caught up with friends from last year, that Jess hasn't seen in a while. We have also gone for a lot of runs because Mums says we have to keep up our fitness for netball. Next Wednesday Jess and I are training into Sylvia park to catch up with our friends. We are going to the movies when we are there.

A fun and scary day / Rhys

HEY GUYS!!!!!!

Me again and today I had an awesome day with friends. Me Dylan and Liam went to the mall to have a look around. So you know where looking at the shops went to the food court and when we were just leaving to go to our movie we hear this loud as siren and Liam just gapped it out of the mall it was funny but scary. the whole mall was evacuated in under 4 minutes. We were waiting outside when I saw Clark, Denzel, Davik, Liam H, Rayaan so I talked to them and they were saying how they were going to miss there movie like us so we waited and waited until they let us in.

I got some new shoes today for basketball as well there are NIKE KD V ELITE. Man aren't mums awesome when they say yes. :-D

By the way I forgot to put a photo of my new hair cut on my last post so here it is please comment if u like it.

        

Rhys + paintball = FUN

HI GUYS!!!!!!!

On Tuesday the 16th I went paintballing at a place called BLACKGUNZ. If you don't know what paintball is it is a very physical and mental sport where you shoot little paint pellets at your opponents to gain points for you team so your team can win.

Before I carry on I just want to say that this was a painful experience for me and don't go with older people it is a massive disadvantage to you so I recommend that you go with friends unless you want to be shoot at constantly.

I went with my brother Adam and his work friend Andrew. Because there was only three of us we decided to make it all on all. This is the arena we played in.                                       ----->

I was thinking after we started the first round that this would easy because it was there first time but I was wrong. Being the smallest there did not help me at all. I say this because I was shot 5 times on my head and I mean my head not my face the and top of my head.

My Science Project- By Gemma

This year for my science project I chose what area in Reremoana School has the most bacteria for my topic. I chose this topic because I was curious about it.

Materials:

10 Petri dishes
• 10 control bags (snap lock bags)
• 10 test swabs (cotton buds)
• 1 scissor
• 1 roll of masking tape
• 1 vivid
• 4 surgical gloves (so samples don't get contaminated)

Method:

1. Take control bags and test swabs and 2 gloves to school.
2. Swab, using the test swab, Room 11's door handle.
3. Quickly put test swab in control bag and seal it.
4. Follow the same process (using different test swabs and control bags for each swab) with; the keyboard, swing door in toilet, sink in toilet, Room 11 desk, test swab, control bag, staffroom bench cloth and the fridge handle in the staffroom.
5. Take home swabs and place in bedroom closet.
6. Record observations and take photos each day.

Hypothesis:

I hypothesize my outcome will be that the staffroom bench cloth, computer keyboard or basin samples will contain the most bacteria. I think the sample with the least bacteria will be the hall stair rail because it doesn’t get touched or used as much as the other samples.

Results:

 

While growing my bacteria samples it produced a foul aroma that got stronger each day. Various types of bacteria grew on the samples; the bench cloth sample grew a lot of only yeast, basin sample grew a lot of orange pigment, round, entire opaque, so did the hall stair rail (only a small amount), the door handle sample grew filamentous shaped colonies and a lot of the samples grew the most common bacterial colonies.

Discussion:

 

In concluding my experiment I have found that the bench cloth, basin and keyboard samples contained the most bacteria, surprisingly they all grew different types of bacterial colonies. The least amount of bacteria grown was on the hall stair rail, desk and toilet swing door samples. As you my notice on my photos there is a split in the nutrient agar on the toilet swing door sample which may have been the reason for no bacteria growth on the sample. Fortunately that was the only problem during the process of my experiment. For the test swab and control bag sample (My base swabs) results, the test swab sample grew no bacteria at all, the control bag sample grew a small amount of bacteria. My hypothesis was correct. I hypothesized the right outcome for the most amounts of bacteria grown and the least, only I didn’t think the desk sample would have the least amount of bacteria.

 

During the science fair presenting in the hall, I displayed my samples. Every person that came to me said " Ewwww really?". My experiment shows, with some things around our school, we need to clean more!

Hi everyone! happy holidays.
at the moment im not feeling that great.... :(
Im sick, maybe with tonsilitis, I hate it, I feal horrible but with my mums help im sooo much better! Im not that bad anymore just a little cough and sore throat its my secound day now being Ill, and hopefully tomorrow ill feel better. By the looks of it I think i will be. I missed out on the last day of school because thats how bad I was feeling, but now I shall be on top of the moon soon I guess. Bye happy holidays

How to use a soldering iron?- Jansje

Soldering is used to join two objects together by melting the solder wire onto the copper that is connecting to the components on the circuit.

The solder is made up of two different metals, These metals are 60% tin and 40% lead. This type of solder is used in electronics and is called resin core. The resin is in the center of the solder and is used to clean the surface of the components to be joined together.

How netball works

Netball is a popular sport that is played all over the world. Netball consists of the following; rules, skills , running, jumping and lots more. The aim of the game is to get the ball from one side of the court to the goal where your GS and GA will shoot the ball into the hoop. This will give your team a goal the team that has the most points will win the match of netball.

Netball is a competitive sport that is played mostly by girls. Girls mostly play netball but boys can choose if they want to compete in the sport. A netball court  is split into thirds at one side of the court there is a goal third,in the middle there is a center third and the last third is also a goal third. In netball there are many different places where you need to be. There are also many different positions such as; C,WA,WD,GA,GD,GK and GS. It depends on which position you have on have on where you have to go. GK,GD,WD and C are defense and GS,GA,WA and C are the attackers. In the center third there is a circle that you step into to start the game the buzzer will go off and you will start the game.

To play netball you need to have curtain skills. You need to be able to jump,run,catch a round ball,pass change direction, know how to pivot and you need to be able to collaborate with people. In netball you are only allowed 7 players on the court at a time this is where leadership comes in you need to pick the best people to play the right positions . In netball there are many rules you need to follow.

To play netball you need to know the rules. One important rule you need to follow is not to step, pivot so you don't step. There are many more rules you need to follow like; held ball (you are only allowed to hold onto the ball for 3 seconds), offside (when you go over a line your not ment to), re-play ball ( when you bounce the ball more than once), contact ,obstruction and others.

In conclusion netball is a fun game to play.It helps you to get fit and helps you with curtain skills. Try netball some time. In my point of view I LOVE netball!

Bubble-ology the chemistry of bubbles By Blake Summerfield

For the 2013 science fair in term 2 I did mine on the chemistry of bubbles. I used water and detergent as my control and then added to that corn syrup and glycerin. So I then had 3 different solutions that would be competing against the store brought mixture. Unfortunately when I did my first experiment where I blew then count the bubbles it was inconclusive so to get the answer I wanted I did another experiment. In this one I blew then timed the bubble before it popped on my wand/pipe cleaner.

The winner for my second experiment was corn syrup as it was thick and prevented the water in between the to soap layers in a bubble to not evaporate. Because glycerin did not win even though It was just as sticky as corn syrup was because glycerin only prevented the water from evaporating not make the soap stronger as well like what the corn syrup did. I was surprised the store brought product didn't do what I thought it would because they would have pt corn syrup into it to make it better but the internet did not supply me with the ingredients in the 'billion bubble' or even what is in any other bubble mixture. The reason detergent only failed was because it was to weak giving that there wasn't enough chemicals in it to provide a good bubble.

I had to use pipe cleaners for my wands. I just did  small circle on the end to make it. I made sure each solution had a different wand so there would be no cross-contamition. store brought=purple,

glycerin=green, corn syrup=blue and detergent only=yellow.

What you can do to take a nice photo - Lucy

Photography is a hobby that many people around the world enjoy. Sometimes it can be quite complex and quite expensive. Photography involves a lot of things such as; the rule of thirds, different perspectives, capturing light to get different effects and more! You can also use different editing sites like Iphoto (only for apple devices) where you can crop, straighten, enhance (make the photos brighter in colour) and more.

One of the techniques you could use is the rule of thirds. To use this what you do is you get the camera  and on some cameras all you have to is click the display button a couple of times. The rule of thirds looks like a grid.

As you can see it is split into 9 small squares. When you use this grid you could use the left line or the right line , top line or bottom line to catch a nice photo. You could also use connecting lines. When you use this technique you will have a lot of negative space (empty space) but a tree our sun like this picture could fill this up.

The rule of thirds is a great technique to use when something or someone has somewhere to go.

There is many different ways to capture light. Some times a silhouette my look really cool but to get it when take the picture you hold the lens towards the sun and have the sun in the picture you take. (a silhouette is the outline of a figure but shows no detail) But if you don't want a silhouette you stand with your back towards the sun. Sometimes a shadow will cast over part of the object you were taking a picture of so you could just move around.

In photography there are a few different perspectives. These perspectives you take from different angles. Mouse is when you take a picture with the camera on the ground facing towards the object you are taking a picture of. Giraffe is when you take a picture looking straight down on something. And possum is when are zoomed out and are taking a picture of something hole. I personally like using mouse because you normally get the sky as the background.

Overall photography is lots of fun. You will never finish learning something new about photography. Photography is full of enjoyment. Photography is quite complex but once you do it for a long time it will get easier.
