Exposure- Personal Inquiry- Hannah

LEARNING TO SPEAK AFRIKAANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What?: I would like to learn how to greet and learn the basics of the African language (Afrikaans). I would then like to learn how to speak this language so I may have a conversation with my friends and teacher who grew up in South Africa. I would like to increase the difficulty of the words I learn as the inquiry progresses.

Why?: I have always wanted to learn hot to speak a different language and I thought if, in the future, I want to go to Africa I will be able to communicate with people. Also in College I might want to continue with the language so learning Afrikaans now will give me a head start on the basics.

Inspired?: This video inspired me because it proves no mater what age you can still learn things and it also teacher you the pronunciation  of the words.

Camp 2013 - Hannah

On the 22nd of October the year 7 and 8's of Reremoana school went to Peter Snall Youth Village to spend the week of fun and exiting activities. Then it arrived the day we had been exited and preparing  for since the start of term 4 and it had finally come !!!!

The Bus Trip: Along the way we had to complete a scavenger hunt. This included questions and activities such as; what is the first bridge you cross, how many signs, places do you see/pass, draw the signs you see and about 10 other questions.

Arriving to Peter Snall Youth Village (PSY): It was beautiful, the clouds shimmered over the ocean. I have never seen anything like it to me it was like paradise. As wee got off the bus we descended into the cabins where we would be staying and luckily for us we had the best viewed room (Cabin 7 Girls) We could see further than the harassing we could see the beach, Whangaparaoa's town center and the backyard of PSY.

The Water Slide: Man it was fun, the wind just chilled your back as you glide.I had so much fun the water made you unable to breath and when hitting the bottom you where colder than the Antarctic ocean (in my opinion).

Activities: Archery, air rifles, boomer trail, rock climbing, camp cooking, abseiling, and initiative course where all of the many activities we participated in the past 3 days.
All many fun activities to enjoy and work together as a group.

Snow planet (Thursday): Wow! What an exciting day that was. I learnt how to ski properly- without any major falls. It was hilarious to watch my dad try and snowboard. Unfortunately for two people (Jansje and Callahan) the day wasn't the best. Callahan had a suspected broken arm and Jansje broke her leg! Nevertheless, they both stayed for the last night.

When It Was Time To Go: saying goodbye was hard we had such a good time i never wanted to leave but we had no choice when we got home i got dad to pick me up because i was full of a could and i was very tied to stay at school so i stayed at home relaxing my head looking back at all those wonder full memories.

It was cold and very wet but on the 12th September 2013 5 lucky students (Liam, Shannyn, Theane', Hannah and Gemma) competed in the Auckland Champs Cross Country. They moved through 3 competitions to get to this stage. We had very good results and everyone tried their hardest.

Thank you to Theo Van Zyl who came along to this event for support. Also a BIG thank you to Mr Fourie who trained and prepared us for this awesome event.
