Athletics/Mikyla

I would like to say a big well done to everyone who participated in the athletics day on Wednesday
Everyone gave it there all and it was a great day to have.
There were definitely some great stand outs yestoday asppecially the people who got ribbons.
Overall our school came first and we won against the gardens so that was a great honner to have.
I would like to also say thank you to all the helpers yestoday and I would like to say a really big thank you to MR Fourie for making that day possible.

Personal inquiry/Mikyla

                                       Spanish
For my personal inquiry I want to learn how to say the basic words in spanish.
I want to be able to say simple words like good morning and goodbye in spanish.
I choose this topic because I want to visit spain when I am older and I have friends that know how to speak spanish so it would 

be really cool if I could speak to them in their own language.
I also think that learning spanish would be really fun and I have always wanted to know how to speak spanish because some of the words a similar to english.
I have always admired spanish and I think it would be really cool if I could speak some of it.

Camp report/Mikyla

Last week rooms 11 and 14 went on camp
Camp is when you can do a different variety of activities
Such as;

sleeping in tents
setting Up campfires
And many more fun activities as-well.
We went to camp called Petersnell youth village this camp is fun and it has a cool water slide that everyone loves.

The first activity our camp group did was rock climbing.
On my first attempt I did not make it to the top but on my second go I did make it to the
Top the whole way through i had my group cheering me on so I was pleased to have that.
The next activity we did was cooking on a hobo stove we cooked pick lets and Shayle was my partner.
Along the way we also did Archery,Ab-sailig,Air-riffles and the initiative corse.

Apart from doing those activities we also did fun activities at night.
We did fun activities at night every-night that we spent at camp.
We did the Burma trail which is when you are blindfolded at night and you have to follow a rope which you hand on the person in front of you.
Two people in my camp group got really scared of the scary noises that were around us.
Whenever a scary noise came near me I would always laugh and say hi how are you doing.
I was also laughing at my camp group who was freaking out.

Camp was really fun considering there was a weird pig named nugget he was really funny when he eats because he ate with his mouth open and it was gross but cute at the same time.
We also had free time during camp so we could go and play volly-ball and other activities as-well like the water-slide that went downhill which was scary but fun at the same time.

Overall camp was really fun and i loved the water slide but i was terrified to go down at the start.
I would love to go to PSYV again and I loved the activities we did there.

Birthday coming

Hi guys its mikyla here I'm having a great holiday so far but I'm afraid that its coming to and end.
The fun doesn't stop for me tho because on Sunday the 13th October it is my birthday I am really looking forward to it and it will be my first year as a teenager.
On Saturday I am having a party and shale is coming Along with my best friend Bryah.
I also want to remind everyone that as soon as we get back to school we have lots of testing so be prepared.

The person I am describing is a very close friend of mine.
This person is kind and very humorous.
This person I can truly say is a true friend no matter in what situation.
I can tell this person anything and she will not tell anyone.
This person sometimes wears earings and used to play netball.
This person is not scared of heights (unlike me)
She sometimes gives up her time to watch a younger sibling play sport when she would rather do something else.
She will tell me anything unless it is a secret.
This person I am describing is sometimes sporty and sometimes competitive in what she does.
This student is also new but old.

Why kids should not have a TV in their room:
Scientists have proven that the more T.V you watch the more likely you are to become
Over-Weight and the more likely you are to become with diabetes.Why have a T.V in you room when watching it will only make matters worse.
I strongly Believe that kids should not have a T.V in their room for the following reasons;
This does not help in medical ways
There are high addictions to shows that are being watched
There is poor lack to sporting and exercise
and
Having a T.V in your Room can also interfere with school life.

As I said before T.V does not help in medical ways:
So lets discuss this,Its simple
The more T.V you watch the more likely you are to become overweight and the more likely you can become prone to diabetes,
Also along with all of this you can also get heat deceases and cause and early death.
This is not good for our bodies or us.

Parents have no control over what is being watched:
Parents have no control over what is being watched because they don't know what is being watched.
We could be watching a T.V show or a rated movie that we know that we are not supposed to be watching but do anyway.

Moving on:
Sports and exercise is vital for a Childs life.
I say this because when you watch T.V you gain fat by eating or drinking when watching T.V
This is a normal habit but it's not a good one.
 Doing sports and exercise is good for you because it can help burn off that fat that you are
Gaining when watching T.V but many people who watch T.V reject it. addictions
Also you are only supposed by minimum be watching 3 to 4hrs of T.V a day.

Also there are high to shows or rated movies that are being watched:
For example:
Adventure time,Regular Show,Shortland Street and Victories are all addictive shows to some people.
The cycle to break watching these shows is sometimes hard.

Having a T.V in kids rooms also interferes with school life:
Rather than doing homework kids would want to stay up late in their bedrooms and watch T.V.
The next morning there could be a test over the period of time they watched T.V they could've
studied for the test or improving there knowledge of basic facts.

Overall:
T.V is not good for us or our body
There are high addictions to shows that are been watched
This can inter fear with school life
And
There can be poor lack to sporting and exercise.

Hopefully I have persuaded you not to put a T.V in your room.
Kids should watch T.V with there parents where T.V is then monitored.

My weekend/Mikyla

Hello room 11
This weekend has been fun because I saw my Great grandad twice and It was nice to see him.
For Father's Day I couldn't do anything because my grandad went and
Played golf WITHOUGHT ME!!! Which I thought was not cool.
The only let down for Father's Day was that my dad in Australia was working in the mines
But in the afternoon I got an Unecspected call from him I was grateful because he called from work and he was the first person that he called so I was happy for the rest of the day.
Considering my grandad went and played golf my nana said we can go look at open homes so we went down to Papakura and found some open homes.
The houses we saw were for the very rich and the lowest prices that the
Houses were on was for 1.3 million which is quite a lot.
We also found out that the company that was showing one of the show homes is
Going to build a house house the size of bocce him palace so I can't wait to see that.

Along with being mad at my grandad because we never got to spend some quality time together
I had a pretty good weekend.

Old fashioned doll/Mikyla

I am selling an old fashioned doll that is very valuable and special to me.
I doll I have always treasured from the day I got it.
When I was about 7 my nana said to me when your older I am going to give you this doll so
EveryTime I went to my nana's house she would always show it to me and It was always something to look forward to seeing.
I have loved this doll from the day I got it but now its now my turn to give the pleasure of giving this fantastic doll away.

This doll is a hard to doll to find it is very rare that you will see the doll Im keen to give away.
This doll is on a stand has brown curly hair brown eyes and is wearing a beautiful dress
Blobbed with different colours.
This doll is also wearing a purple ribbon around her waist.
My nana calls this doll an antique because of how old the doll is.

My Doll has no cracks of damage done to her so she is in spectacular condition.
This doll as I said before is very old but my doll does not look like it.
This doll is known to be a collectors item so it is very valuable you would be very lucky to have a doll like this it is a rare opportunity to have an
Amazing doll like this.

This doll is great when showing off considering the doll is in spectacular condition and is very old.
This doll would be great if you had a daughter because she would have so much joy and fun playing with it.

In conclusion it would be great to have this doll.
This is a rare opportunity and is one you should take.
This old doll has been a pleasure to have and i'm hoping the next owner  will think so too.
This doll has many reasons to having it and it is lots of fun.

Why we should develop the space between room 11 and 14/Mikyla

Do hate the green but nothing space outside room 11 and 14?

I strongly believe we should do something with the space outside.

I think that we should change the space to having some concrete tables along with flower boxes and (ect...)

I also think this would be a great idea also because;

During lunch you can hang with friends 

This would be a great learning tool 

and 

This land is currently not been used.

As I said earlier this would great when hanging with friends.

At lunch times you could just chat to one another and its allot better to sit on a seat rather than sitting on concrete.

Having this tool would also be a great help in learning as-well.

On a nice sunny day our teacher could send us outside and we could do some work.

we could also turn this thought into an inquiry like we did with the planter boxes and 

that went really well

The land that the concrete tables would be on is currently not been used.

The land is pointless why have it when we don't do anything with the land sometimes this even causes problems such as 

when its raining that grass gets wet and we walk over it causing there to be mud and dirt in the class.

We can solve this problem by putting concrete over the grass and with this we can walk in that space with-ought bringing mud into the class.

Altogether this idea would be handy in many ways and this  would fill up the empty space.

This idea comes in handy by;

Hanging with friends

This could benefit in learning

and this could fill in the empty space.

We could excite young kids by doing another project and kids will then be excited to come and join the Kereru team.

                              

So close/Mikyla

It was Millies first time  on a boat and she has been taken hostage by pirates.
The pirates are keeping Millie in a dark room and she is tied up to a chair unable to move.
Millies long blonde hair gets in the way of her face which really annoys and fustrates Millie.
Millies sky coloured eyes can only see pitch black because she doesn't know it but
She is wearing a blindfold.

Millie does everything she can think of to escape the chair she is tied to but has no luck
But then suddenly Millie hears footsteps coming her way with fear already there not knowing what the pirates are going to do with her and now this.
With sweat running down her head Millie is is as scared as anything but suddenly somone pulls her blindfold off.
When the blindfold is off a gush of light is revealed and the light reveals a young boy aged same age as Millie (16)
Both Millie and Jack say nothing for a minute and finally Jack says im " here to save you "he said.

Jack then unties the rope around Millies;
Legs
Arms
hands and
feet
and now Millie is finally able to breath properly.
Jack hands Millie a sword and they both know what they have to do and that is to fight the pirates.
As Millie and Jack walk out of the dark room they are instantly spotted by pirates then instantly they both know that the fight has begun.

Millie try's hey her Best to defend herself but know that it is pointless because she has a huge cut on her arm from a pirate.
As the fight continues Jack is doing well but Millie is struggling considering  she can only use one arm
And her arm is dropping blood everywhere.
Jack sees that Millie is struggling so he helps her out and as  time passed every pirate was dead.

Suddenly Jack says to Millie "I needed an extra pair of hands to fight the pirates and you have helped"  "me"
Jack also said "I want this ship to  myself"
Millie turns to run but it was to late jack had stabbed Millie through the chest.
Jack then repents and Says "what  have I done my love" but it was to late because Millie was dead.

Photography

On Monday and Tuesday the YR 7 and 8s did technology and I did photography.
Photography is a special hobby or job used to take expert photos and capture perfect photos.
Photography is done all ocher the world.

Of corse you will take the photos using a Camara but this doesn't have to be done with a flash Camara (normal camara)

Photography requires special equipment this needs:
A Camara
A download Cable or a card reader (optional)
A laptop (optional)
and I photo (optional)
When I was doing photography I learnt the rule of thirds
That is when you take a photo but you don't center the object or person.
Also When you are taking a photo get down to its level this helps in many ways.

When you take a photo you cant make a bad photo good but you can make a good photo better.
On your laptop if you have one you should have an app that is could I photo.
You can download your photos down on this and make the photos you have taken better.
I photo gives you the opportunity to crop your photos which allows you to take part of the photo off
Also on I photo you can change your photos into black and white to give your photo a better effect.
These are only some of what you can do for there is many different tools to choose from.

As you move on with Photography you can challenge yourself by entering competitions with photos or trying to take a photo each day.

In conclusion
Photography is very fun and is fun to do,you can make a lot of money doing this job.
You can challenge yourself in many different ways.
You can change photos in so many ways using I photo but I think Photography is fun and is fun to do.

Why we need exercise

Exercise seems to be the one thing that no one really wants to do.
Exercise requires  a good attitude a healthy diet and the will to achieve your goal
Exercise helps the body and brings a good attitude.

We need exercise because our bodies need it.
Exercise gets our heart pumping and blood running.
Exercise also slims our bodies down causing us not to get fat/
It causes our bodies to run further distances than before.

Exercise also helps you better in sports.
You tend to run in sports quite often ;
soccer,netball, rugby, and basket-ball.
Exercise allows you to keep up with the person you have to defend.
Also in most sport's fitness levels is the key thing to get in, in sports.

Exercise is very much vital for us.
We need it and it helps you allot in sports.
Personally I love exercise and fitness because it helps allot and I Improve so much every time.

How friction works

How friction works

Friction is caused by a couple of different things such as; two objects rubbing together, and gravity. Friction also causes; objects to slow down and heat up.

When you get two objects that are bigger than the other and rub them together they get hotter. With somethings such as; dry wood you can rub them together until they get so hot they start a fire.

Friction and gravity are a force that works together. Such as; when you kick a ball you can't expect for it to keep going because the friction slows it down and the gravity pulls it down

Friction is a force that you need in life. If you don't have friction nothing will stop.

My family's last adventure!!!

It was a nice sunny day there was a cool breeze and the air felt so fresh.
My parents three brothers and my sister are all going kyaking the worlds roughest river in the world and
surly I could not miss this.
My sister is five and is as scared as anything my parents are scared that we are going to fall out of the kayak and my three brothers there are going to be sharks in the water
am I the only person that sounds like i'm going to enjoy this?

As we jumped in the kayak and got in the water the wind seemed to feel Alot stronger and my lond black hair blew in front of me and I started to get goose-bumps.
My luck seemed to had to change when the wind was more stronger than before and to my surprise we had found that a huge crocadile was following us.
Our instructer did not say anything about crocadiles in the river and he never said that we were going to kayak right next to them.

The next thing I knew I heard a rushing sound in front of me then my mum started to shout
"EVERYONE HOLD ON"
I did as my mum said my mother said but I did not know why she said that but I found out in a few seconds.
In that time I felt like I was on the Fear-Fall at RainbowsEnd because we were dropping and the drop was as high as a 10 story building.
My family fell out of the kayak leaving me to hold for my life.

Our kayak landed perfectly on the water and now my next life threatening mission was to get my
family out of the water but before I  could do anything the water turned red then I knew instantly
my family was dead.
The crocodile had gotten my family before I could even do anything to try and help.
I could not do anything now but hope and pray I just don't get eaten alive like they did.

I paddled to the end of the river and there laid a beautiful forest but nothing seemed beautiful anymore
my family was dead and that was all that mattered.
I could not turn back because it would risk my life so I stayed and lived in the forest and i had to live in the fear of the beasts who killed my family.
