Camp 2013 - By Jansje
On the 22nd of October the year 7&8s went to Peter Snell Youth Village for their 2013 camp.
When they got on the bus they had to sit with their camp groups, The Baby Ducks, The Boss Team, Swag Nation, Cookie minions, Champions and Mischief monkeys. When the bus started to move the treasure hunt was on, there were a number of questions that we had to answer because they would be in the Y-games.
When we got off the bus it was time to unpack and familiarize ourselves with the campsite. We had morning and we had free time for quite a while. After Lunch we had our first rotation.
The first activity the Baby ducks did was the initiative course with Roger Gribble and Petra Stydom. The initiative course was a team building exercise that everyone had to help to complete. The Baby ducks did really well but had some problems at the begining.
The second rotation the Baby ducks did was archery. The Baby ducks supported each other well and hit the targets nearly everytime. David did really well he nearly hit the target. There were alot of people who kept on missing but just kept on trying their best.
When we finished our last activity for the day it was time for the water slide. It was so long and the water was freezing, but wow it was such a blast. When everyone was dry it was dinner time, it was so yum but before you
could dig in you had to sing this: Danna na na "clap clap" Danna na na "clap clap" Danna na na Danna na na Danna na na Where Thirsty and Where Hungry We Want to Fill our Tummy's We Know it Really Yummy and so We Thank The Lord Danna na na "clap clap" Danna na na "clap clap" Danna na na Danna na na Danna na na "clap clap" amen.
After dinner it was time to make stick bread, you had to cook it over the fire and when it was cooked we could eat it and it was good. Then it was time to be scared. The Burma trail was so fun, our feet got wet and we nearly wet ourselves. When the Burma trail was finished it was time for bed.
It was Wednesday morning and it was time to start the next activities. The Baby Ducks had abseiling, it was so scary people started crying but the boys did it in seconds. When everyone had their turn I went one more time and I loved it.
There are three other activities; rifle shooting, rock climbing and camp cooking. When we finished the rest of the activities it was time to practice for the talent quest. The camp groups had to dance to cotton eye joe and you had to be in another group to do your own thing. The Baby Ducks did really well but did muck up. The other group I was in was Girl Power, the dance was really funny it was so funny that we came first place.
The next day was Snow Planet day. We got off the bus it was time to get dress and to get the equipment. When everyone had ski's and snowboards it was time to learn how to use them. When we new the basics we had free time, it was so fun we went so fast. When it was nearly time to go I was going so fast and got air time and started to tumble and broke my leg in the prosses.
IT was Friday, our last day at camp and the second year of TOP CLASS. When everything was back to normal it was time for TOP CLASS. Rm11 and Rm14 got to gether and got everyone ready, when time was up TOP CLASS had started. It was really close but Rm 14 won.
Camp was a great place to work as a team, to take on your fears and to have a great time. Camp was amazing and every minute I was there was awesome except for braking my leg.
