CAMP AT PSYV:
On Tuesday the 22nd of October 2013 we had our year 7&8 camp. This year we went to Peter snell youth village. We took a big bus there. On the way we had to answer a series of questions because some of them would be used in the Y-games. For me it seemed like forever till we got there but the sinning from the boys on the bus really made the time fly, finally we arrived at PSYV. It was a nice sunny day the sky was blue the grass was green.
When the bus had stopped we grabbed a bag and passed it down the line so that the bus had no longer any of our stuff in it. We found our bags and took them to the front of the deck. Where we sat in our team lines. Mr Fourie then explained some important rules of the camp, and what he expected from us. Then when he was ready the owner of PSYV came out (Gordan) he explained the rules he had set in line and also the respect of the campsite, also what he expected of us. After the chatting we had time to familiarise the camp we looked at where all the activities were so we knew where to go, when we needed to be at an activity.
On this day each group only had time to do 2 activities Swag nation (my group) did Hobo stoves and the initiative course. We started our first rotation after looking around and having a little bit of free time. First my group did Hobo stoves. This is when you cook on a tin, underneath the tin there is flammable gel that you light up and the hot gel makes the tin hot enough to cook on. We split into groups of 2 or 3 depending on the number of people in your group. We had three groups of 2 and one group of 3. We cooked mini pancakes on the tins.
We did the Burma trail on the first night at camp this was really funny. Every time a parent or teacher jumped out at us Annika and I was the first people to scream. Even though I was scared the night was really fun!
Every morning we had to get up early to do a morning run. Our mornings included; the morning run, breakfast, getting dressed and OF COURSE getting outside on time (not to long after the hoota goes off) .
In the evenings the water slide would be open and our evening programs would proceed. They ran later than we had planned but I guess that was ok. Every night we would go to bed at 10.00 o'clock or just later.
On our second day at Peter Snell Youth Village each group did 4 activities. Swag nations activities were; archery, abseiling, rifles and rock climbing. At archery we had to shoot at a target and then we would add up the points and see who was the best boy and girl out of each team, in my team Rhys was the best boys and I was the best girl. Thanks to Warren Laverick and Simon Thorne who helped out at the archery.
Then we moved onto abseiling I think our team was supporting each other really well while we were at this one activity if someone found it hard or was scared we all encouraged them to get up the steps and abseil down the wall. Thank you to Callahan's dad who helped out here and was encouraging to the kids who were really scared to get down the wall.
Next was the rifles at this activity we added up points to see who was the best out of our team. A person out of my team found it hard to hit the tins to get points but she never gave up and she tried really hard and she finally hit a tin and got a point. "YAY". Well done to Annika who was the best girl shooter in my group! Thanks to Alan Rayner and Aprils dad R.T for helping out.
Then it was our last activity at PSYV rock climbing. At this activity our team encouraged other members to climb up the wall. This activity was fun because we got to cheer for people in our team, and also the team who was going down the abseiling wall. Thank you to Paul Yates who helped out at this activity.
The night of the 2nd day was amazing we had the Talent Quest. Our groups had been working really hard to perfect their performances. Most performances either included the crowed, made them laugh or made them think. But at the end of the night Mr Munro could only choose 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners. Congrats to Taleha who came 3rd. And to LYLT who came 2nd and to Girl power who were the winners of the night.
The next day we went to Snow planet and man did every one had fun. But of course we couldn't through the day without having any injury's. Callhan and Jansje I hope your broken bones heel soon. The night of the 3rd day we had the Y-games they were so fun. Congratulations to the parents who won the Y-games.
Sadly the next day it was our time to leave PSYV. In the morning there was no morning run insteed we had to do our camp jobs. After that we thanked the parents and Gordan then we began our long journey home.
