Camp 2013-Leslie

On the 22nd-25th of october 2013, some of the year 7&8 went to peter Snell's youth village for our 2013 camp. The objective of this was to gain points everyday for you team that Mr. Fourie put us into. The moment we got there we had to choose our cabins. There was a west and east side. The "west side"was the girls side cabins and the "east side" was the boys cabins. After that we got started with our first activity. The activities were; Rock climbing, abseiling, Riffle shooting, hobo cooking, Archery and the initiative course.

Our next activity we got started with was abseiling. Abseiling was very scary and very fun. After going down once I felt really proud of myself for over coming my fear (Of highs) on the first day we started. Abseiling was a fun and cheer-able for me and my team. Our activity (Abseiling) was just a wonderful way to start camp.

Once all the activities were done Mr. Fourie and Gordon (the owner of Peter snells youth village) said that the water slide was open. So then all of us got changed into our swimming clothes. When we were lining up we only got to start from half way on the water slide just to show us a little bit whats it about and the next day we could go from the top.

That night was the scariest night at camp. We had the Burma trail and making bread on the fire. The groups that were making the bread on fire were; 4, 5, and 6 and the first groups to go in the Burma trail was group 1, 2, and 3. The bread was delicious first we rapped it around a stick and cooked it on the fire. When it was done it was group 4, 5, and 6 turn to do the Burma trail and 1, 2, and 3 to cook the bread. The Burma trail was worst than I thought but half way threw the Burma trail Mr. Fourie told us to take our blind fold off because we were running out of time. So we could see all the parents hiding and up in trees like Paul.

The next day we had to fit 4 activities into one day because of snow planet the next day but that was fine with me. Our 3 activity was riffle shooting. Riffle shooting was excellent to start the next day off. At first I got the hang of it but then during it, it didn't look that great. I tried so many position but it didn't work until I tried one particular position which made me change.

Our next activity was rock climbing. I thought rock climbing was just gonna be boring but it turn out to be really fun. Rock climbing was hard at first but then it also got really fun. Next activity we had was the initiative course. The initiative course was pretty challenging and its took a lot of try and we had to start over again.

How to play the piano…

For myself Inquiry I would like to learn how to play the piano. The reason why I choose this is because I really enjoy listening to people playing lovely music and sounds on it and one day I want to  be able to play like them.

I enjoy playing music on musical instruments that I haven't played before but the one musical instrument I love playing anywhere and anytime at all will but the guitar. But because I already know how to play the guitar I would love to play the piano.

If you would like to see a video of a person playing lovely music on the piano click here

Discrib-Leslie

She's sporty, kind, funny, pretty and brainy. She knows how to count to two and tie her shoes. She loves trying out new, hard and challenging sports activities and she also loves to the facials on boys faces as she out sprints them in sprints. She also plays "Center" in netball as she out runs her partners all day long. She plays in a musical band that plays lovely music to my ears unfortunately she isn't as tall as her dad and isn't as short as her mum.

Speech/persuasive writing-Leslie

Why exercise is good for you

Do you think your've done enough exercise? Or do you have a feeling were you feel you haven't done enough? Well today i'm here to persuade you that exercise is good for you. Exercise is known all around the world it is a part of an everyday life activity. I believe exercise is really good to; help you through life, keep you in good moods and shapes and also improve and increase your goals.

Your've probably heard countless times how exercise is good for you but did you know it can also help you feel good too. Getting the right amount of exercise can boost up your energy levels and even help you improve your mood. Also exercising can help you look better. People who exercise burn calories and look more in shape, but those who choose not to will end up fat and unhealthy. In fact exercise is one of the most important parts of keeping your body nice and heathy.

The earlier we start to exercise the better. In addition to fitness improvement in strength and others, on going researches tell us that exercise may also; improve memory, increase flexibility, improve balance and much much more. Further more exercise will benefit just about anyone (if you try). The exercise program or sports activity that you begin should be design for you. It also will be based on your current fitness levels and capabilities.

One of the biggest reason people drop on exercising is "lack of interest" if what your doing isn't fun its hard to keep it up. The good news is that there are tons of different sports and activity to see which one inspires you. If you hard fitness one day then don't any fitness the next day it will hurt than if you did some type on exercise. You really need to keep the interest in exercising up!

To conclude, exercise can improve in lots of things and you can learning many useful life skills such as;  improving your strength, flexibility and memory. For all those people who like sitting on the couch and watching Tv get up and give exercise a go it is not that bad you'll not regret it.
