Questioning - Personal Inquiry - April

How to speak French

Questions:

1: How to pronounce French words properly.

2: To be able to read/write French words.

These questions are important for my learn because they help me to understand more about the language French and how they are really pronounced and written.

Congratulations to room 11 who have reached over 14,000 views. Lets hope we can reached 15,000 views by the end of this term.

Peter snells youth village-April

On the 22nd to the 25th of October the year 7 & 8's had their school camp at Peter Snell Youth Village.  The bus arrived at our school on Tuesday morning and all the students rushed to get their bags on and get into seats.

As soon as we got there we all where so excited that we quickly put our bags in our cabins. My cabin that I was in was HUGE. We had seven people in total!  Gemma, Kaitlyn, Jorien, Leslie, Jansje, Theane and I all shared a cabin. It was very squished and cause problems at times.

Day 1

My group "The Cookie Minions"went and did our first activity. Abseiling. It was around 15m high and went diagonal at the top for about a meter then straight down to the bottom. First from our group was Daivik and he went down really fast but then no girl wanted to go so it took about 5 mins to figure it out and Ashleigh decided to go and did really well. I was the second girl and I wasn't scared surprisingly.

Rifle shooting was next for the cookie minions and was a little bit boring as in I never hit any of the targets. The rifle felt weird when I shot it because it vibrated and I wasn't expecting it. We got three shot each and we had about 5 turns using them.

The end of the day came really quick and our group, The champions and the mischief monkeys has to go to camp cooking and made a gross dinner with sausages and 3 random cans. It was really cool though.

Afterwards we had to do the Burma Trail and it wasn't even scary. I got scared maybe once or twice but other people where so scared that they cried. It was awesome cause we had to wear blindfolds and we had to hold onto a rope!

Day 2

The morning was terrible as in we woke up on hard ground in the tents. We straight away packed up and went for our morning run at 7am.

Breakfast was nice. We had loads of options to choose from. It was the best breakfast i've had this year.

Our first activity was rock climbing. It was half the size of the absailing and the rocks weren't that stable. They would move around when we hold them. It was really easy and apparently I was the fastest girl so far. It gave me a wedgie though.

Then we did the hobo stoves. We had to make our own pancakes mixture and it came out all lumpy. Ashleigh, Sean and I shared a stove and it turned out that pancakes can taste like cheese.

The Initiative corse was fun as in we worked as a team. We had to do lots of activities and my favorite one was the spider web activity because we all had to find a way to get through without going through the same hole.

Archery was next and it was so cool. We got to have 5 shots each turn and I nearly got a bulls eye but I didn't as in it was on the yellow.

In the hall we did the talent show. It was so funny to watch all the performances. My group that I was in was Girl Power and we won the talent show because we did a cool dance.

Day 3

SnowPlanet was today and was so exciting. The bus ride was awesome and the whole day was too but some people just didn't have a good day. Jansje broke her leg and Callahan broke his arm. Some people got hot chocolates with their money that they brought. Gemma and I got one then Jansje came and joined and she left so we put a chip in her drink and she drank it and got really angry at us.

Day 4

The last day of camp came quick and we had to pack up and get ready for Top Class. Room 14 won by  1 milliseconds but it was still fun.

All the students would like to thank Mr Fourie and Mr Munro for organizing this event for us. It was really fun and we had the best time of our lives.

Exposure - Personal Inquiry - April

How to speak French

What?

I want to learn how to speak french and how to write "Hi my name is April. How are you today?" in french also. By the end of the inquiry I want to be able to make a conversation with some else who can speak french.

Why?

I want to learn french because it is a very interesting language. I also want to learn it because my brother knows how to speak it because he learns at his college and he teaches me how to count but I want to know how to actually speak a sentence.

Hey guys, the holidays are coming up soon and we hope you have a great one (holiday). Things to remember (if you want to study during the holidays, for our tests on the first week back at school) the word problems people have put on our blog, Mr fourie posting cloze activities on the blog, Mathletics tasks that Mr fourie will set and Mr Fourie said it would be a good idea if you at least finish a new novel that you haven't started reading. We think it would be a great idea if you did this work during the holidays because we have tests as soon as we get back to school. Anyway have a fabulous holiday.

I wonder who? - April

This person that I am describing has long blonde hair that is always up hight in a plat. They have blue eyes like the sea in the morning and is quite tall as well.

They love to play netball and plays GA. They made it into the reps team for netball and touch. Obviously is a girl if you didn't know already. She loves all types of sports and made it into Auckland Champs which was today.

She is a very kind and awesome girl.  She is a very funny girl but when it comes to work she is very focused on her work. If she  was given a job to do she would finish it on time with no problems or excuses at all. She has a very weird personality and is a girl who can work by herself, with someone else or in a group.

She is in Room 11 and is very well known around the school and she is out student leader in our class. Her favorite colour is Green.

WHO IS THIS PERSON I AM DESCRIBING?

Leave a comment if you know who it is!

Good luck for Aucklands guys

Good luck to Gemma, Liam, Theane, Shannyn and Hannah who are going to cross country today. I hope you all do well. Good luck!

Speech - April

Why Everyone should play Minecraft!!

Minecraft is a PC game where you can create anything you can imagine with endless blocks to choose from, to living in the wild with no house or food. Just yourself and the never ending world.

I strongly believe that all students/adults should play minecraft because it is a fun game, you can let your imagination be free and you can play with your friends/family.

Minecraft is a very fun game. Over 11 millon people have downloaded Minecraft and enjoyed it! It is a world wide internet game that has the most downloads for one game! It was created in November 2011 and was pretty boring. But as more updates come it becomes a hole lot more better. Then after it was realested on PC it was avalible on android/IOS(apple products). The thing i think that makes Minecraft so fun is that you have to survive in your house to protect yourself from zombies, skeletons, masive spiders and creepers. Now most of you are thinking about scary zombies and skeletons.

But they really only look like this.

Zombie!
Skeleton

Spider

Creeper

So not as scary as you think aye. But it is so fun when you first play and panic when the come and blow up your house!

Minecraft is game to let your mind be free and design whatever you can possibly imagine. From making a house, to turning it into a mansion. A massive selection of blocks to choose from there is basicly nothing you can't create. Apart from things like IPods and other technologys. There are mods that let you do that. Now most mods in Minecraft add content to the game to change your gameplay, change the creative feel, or give the player more options in how they interact with the Minecraft world. You can create things with your friends/family as well.

Playing with friends/family on any game is better than by yourself with no help at all. In minecraft you can play with over 1000 different players from all over the world but most people create their own server and skype friends to see if they want to play with them. It has loads of different thing to play on but I personally like to play splegg. Splegg is a mini game on minecraft where you can throw eggs at the ground and watch people fall down into a massive black hole. Most people play HG or SG and they are both fun to but splegg is just super weird and fun.

Therefore I believe that students/adults should play Minecraft because it is very fun, it can let your mind be free so you can create anything and you can play with your friends/family on different worlds (also know as servers). So go to www.minecraft.net create an account and buy MineCraft and try to get your friends to play to so you can play together and create a massive world to show your friends that don't have Minecraft!
