Peter Snell Youth Village

It all started on Tuesday morning where I hopped out of the car with my big blue, suitcase and walked over to the hall getting prepared for Peter Snell Youth Village ( that's the name of the campsite we were going to. Finally it was time for the bus to come. We all boarded the bus in our activity groups.

It took 2-hours to get there, so we had some activities to keep us busy along the way. Eventually  we made and we got familiarized with the campsite. We started our first activity. It was abseiling , the basics of Abseiling is you have to haul yourself down the 3 storey wall.... And don't look down!

Next up we had Air Rifles which all you have to do is aim and shoot!Magic! After that it was night time which meant THE BURMA TRAIL. That's when your blind-folded and you go into a dark forest ( at night ).

On Wednesday morning we ate breakfast  and after that  we started Rock-Climbing. Basically , climb to the top and ring the bell.Next we had camp cooking and Nicholas and I buddied up and we made delicious Pikelets!

Thirdly we started the initiative course it's all about calibration and teamwork. It was quite challenging but we worked it out in the end. lastly we had Archery which I sucked at until I got a 75-pointer. Then we went to sleep.

Next morning it was time for SNOW PLANET! I did ski-ing while others did snow-boarding! It was a really awesome experience! Except for the fact that Jansje broke her leg and Callahan broke his arm, it was ULTRA fun!

Then later that night it was the Y games, where you do a variety of strange activities, including; eating baby food, soda drinking contests and random blind-folded music questions.

finally it was time to pack up and do our final activity, a SUPER RELAY! It was a superb experience, I hope I can go to Peter Snell Youth Village again!

J-rock part 1

 J-rock is a fun and interactive way of showing your true talents and bravery. All different schools have different themes( for instance, our school's theme was animal cruelty and was called freedom.)



The town hall is located at the center of Auckland city. Once you are there you will have to wait awhile for security reasons. Then you go to your base and can watch the other schools practice their performances. You either get Two or Three practices before you actually perform on the night. We played lots of card games and a lot of funny jokes. We had additional morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. But then we got excited to know that we were ordering Hells Pizza.

Orienteering

Orienteering is a sport that both uses the mind and the body. It requires being smart to understand the complicating map and you also need to be quite fit to run the distance of the course, without stopping.


Orienteering is commonly played and enjoyed in most schools. It also requires a good build up of energy and stamina to cross the finish line without stooping. You need to bring drink bottles or towels, you might need to bring a change of clothes. Because you might get drenched.


At the starting line the instructor gives you the map and tells you the rules of the map you must follow the map using the arrows then finding  stamps with correct coordinates. To punch in on your piece of paper. You can find helpers along your track. At each coordinate there should be a hint where the stamp is.

Basket ball

Basketball is avery popular game all over the world. But mostly enjoyed in the states, like the Harlemn Globetrotters . Basketball is avery intense game. It is also played in schools, backyards and even local Basketball courts. It is also a gruesome game with complicated rules. So here they are.



The aim of the game is to get a hoop in by, throwing the ball into the hoop. Unlike Netball, Basketball is a contact sport. You can; swipe the ball out of their hands, and you can move with the ball as long as you dribble it. There are also alot of trick shots like; bouncing the ball over their head, 3 pointer, slam dunk, bank shot, sideline and just a normal shot.


One of the key aspects of Basketball is teamwork. If you don't occassionally pass the ball, you won't ba able to get anywhere near the hoop. You can dribble the ball around your opponent to confuse them, then score the goal

Developing ideas

Lately Room11 have been wracking our brains about what new extensions we should develop and add on to theareas outside. Because Room11 and Room14, would love to have a agmes and work area for us to learn at.


Getting a alittle area for the senior kids will benefit from this new adaptations  for the following reasons;chilling and having fun, eating lunch without pesky little kids, interacting with board games, like chess, checkers and working! With the vulnerability of increasing students not using this area. We have the oppurtunity to make something graet of it, and create a safe enviroment for the YEAR 7 and 8's to have a fun time whenever they wan to.


I have commited myself to keep this extension at a go! And would highly believe that your'e with me on this plan too.

Darkness arisen

As the mist and dark coldness of the air sets.I have an eerie voice in my head telling me to go back. But I know I must go on. The whispers of the dead spirits,that went on the same journey as me.... and failed, are torturing me from the inside. My brain is being compressed to only half it's size. Tiny electrical sparks are zooming up my spinal cord,urging me to give up.but that's not who I am. My name is Jake. I have dark blonde hair, a tattoo of  a goblin on my left shoulder. But I like to conceal my identity and right people's wrongs. By others I am nick-named NIGHT WATCHER.
I hear the hallowing of the sorcerer who put the curse on me that made me live forever. I am actually 216-years-old, but I look like an average 17-year-old. I am trudging along the brink of death. Because right below me was a horribly, long drop always ending in death... ''always ending in death'' said a peculiar voice. A hefty wind jolted the glacier that I was standing on. That was when I heard a snap! And was when my mind  and vision went blank!

When I came to. I realised I hadn't fallen down the glacier, I was actually in a comfy bed with a view of a wonderful castle with a beheaded dragon and a skeleton of Garland The Great( my father) I wondered where I was, looking around, with my hand on my head gently. Because I must have cracked it open, when I was on the glacier. Suddenly a very tall man with brightly coloured robes strolled in and said''Jake'' I was amazed so I said 7 words '' How do you know who I am "'. I am your father! The skeleton was a fake. Come with me to Abrodrem  and we can start a new adventure together

Why fitness is boring

How many times has someone told you to go outside and get some exercise? Well I think exercise is really bad for school because, school is for learning and having fun. Not dying nearly every time someone mentions fitness, or getting chills when someones whispering about exercise. Maybe it's not as bad as someone saying'' Come on, let's have some fun''. (You don't  know if their talking about something physical or if it's just a simple game.


Also on the subject of games, it depends what type of game/sport it is. It could be like playing Volleyball, where you don't have to run a lot. But Soccer, where you have to run all the time. Another factor is fitness injuries .


Injuries, one of the worst parts of physical life. Have you seen those people in hospitals or rehab, scared to hear bad news from their doctors. Fitness can also endure stress. In conclusion I think fitness is a terrible way to spend your life. And I hope you conquer with me.

Dreamscape

It was a rainy Tuesday, the day was stormy and windy, it was a terrible day for playing outside. So my family and I went bowling. Once we got there and my Mum payed, it was my turn to bowl. And that was when the strange things happened.


I was lining up for my bowl, when I saw smile dog and I got so scared, I threw the bowling ball high in the air. It fell down and splattered my sister's face. I started freaking out because the walls were closing in and I keep hearing mentally creepy laughter. Suddenly it was just dark and I was all alone except for the crazy puppet rocking in the rocking chair.


He was calling my name in a devilish tone. He asked if I wanted to play suicide bowling. I nodded in agreement, he gave me ball and said ''if you get ten strikes in a row, I will let you live. 9 strikes in a row later....I was on my final strike. I was breathing in and out deeply, thinking what will happen if I miss. Then i bowled and it looked perfect(like it was going to be a strike!)But the puppet got so angry he turned onto a monster and used his mystical third eye to move the ball with his mind control into the gutter.

I froze in fear and horror as he turned into  a horrific beast and shouted in the most terrifying  and mystifying  voice you would ever hear''YOU LOSE"".  I was having a massive fit, all I could see was black and white, I thought I was going mental. So I did something crazy, I tackled him down the bowling ally and the strangest thing happened, we were flying through all my wildest dreams. But suddenly he just evaporated into the spacey darkness , I landed right next to a graveyard.


I heard rustling in the bush, when I noticed fiery red and purple eyes.''I nearly forgot about this dream'' I said. That's when I realized  in exactly 3 seconds the dogs of the devil were hunting me down. I saw a whizz through the air, then I dropped to my knees and noticed I was in a dark room. I felt a a pain in my shoulder, I noticed there was blood on the floor.... and an arrow in my shoulder. I was gasping in pain, when I saw a gun held against my head, and to think this all started with a simple round of bowling. I would never see my Mum, Dad,Sister, Family and Friends. Before I could discuss my negotiations.I heard a deafening BANG!!.

On friday morning we were all getting ready for a swim day!We all got our gear ready.(some people had school bags and others had swim bags) After morning tea, room11 and room 14 all met on the courtyard meeting the parents who were driving us to the pools.


As soon as we got into Sykes road we were ready and prepared, we headed straight  to the changing rooms and got our togs on. We met outside the swimming lanes and sat down and talked, finally we got started. It was year 7's freestyle, that was me! Their were confident swimmers and not so confident swimmers. The races were split into sections, 25m freestyle, 50 m freestyle, breast stroke, butterfly and backstroke. Some people do huge belly flops and splash on the surface of the water.

After that we played a couple games like hoolihoop chain, pass the ball and after that we did relays such as freestyle, doggy paddle and get the ball without touching it. Room11 won! We had a great day, I can't wait till next year.

We were all getting excited when group a for team sports got told that we had cricket that afternoon. We all headed out to the field, I was ready and prepared for a good game, until we got to run around the field.


Anyway, we finished and were ready to play the game, room14 were on batting first. In case you didn't know cricket is a game where everyone is against the batter and must get him/her out. There are fielders, bowlers, batters and one wicket keeper. There are usually two lines on a cricket ball( that is where your fingers go!) You try and bowel the ball towards the wicket.


The backstop is a person that if the batter misses the back stop will grab it and try and get them out. Same as the fielders.


We were really confident in our abilities and guess what.... we got wasted. Even though we lost, I still think it's a really great game.

royal dodgeball

A game we like to play in the afternoons is kingball. Kingball is a simple game with simple rules, each class picks two representitives known as  the king and queen.


The king and queen start off with two balls, then they try to throw them at the opposite team.When everyone gets eliminated , the king and queen come in, you have to be the last one standing to win. If you have a ball you can defend yourself also you can dodge attacks if you don't feel safe.


You must work together if you want to succeed. If you seperate and their is no one looking after you, the most important rule is not to cheat.I think that even though it has lots of rules it is still  a great time.

Pumping the iron

Exercise is a method of keeping your body fit and healthy. To acheive this goal, you can also eat lots of fruit and veggies. but today i am talking about exercise.

There are many different types of exercises for different parts of your body. Like for  your legs; Burpees,Lunges,Stretches and many other exercises. The go to exercises are push ups and sit ups. You can also stop at the local gymnasium or get your own private physical trainer. You can also have protien shakes, which can help your vitimans process alot more quickly and this helps you gain a balanced and healthy diet, which also adds on to your fitness level.


Daily jogs around the block are an excellent way of keeping your body nice and healthy. Many different people use different techniques. Such as cardiovascular exercises which helps you not get as puffed out, if you run around the block, I think fitness is a a great and healthy way to keep your bones and muscles strong for your future needs. Who knows you could be an olympic athlete or pro-sports athlete. Trust me, it really works.

The haunted mystery

I remember the day like it was yesterday, the blood-curdling screams, the blood on the walls, the only problem was we didn't know who or what did it? Here is how the story went, it was the annual sleep over at school, the school was fine at day, but night that is a different story. It was dark and gloomy and you can see the creepy shadows outlining the courtyard. The creepy moon was red evil.....


We got our sleeping bags and gear and got ready for a night in the school hall, everyone was excited, that was except for me. There was a rumor that our school was built on a haunted graveyard.  My best friend is called Jenny, she isn't afraid of anything. That night was like every other night talking,chatting but something was setting me off. Maybe it was the fact that the floorboards were creaking, or maybe the dark hooded figure I keep seeing outside the broken and dark window. I was hearing stories about the creepy janitor called Garrett A.K.A the germ.


There was chatting for hours and hours on end, until suddenly it was dead silence, which was strange, I looked at the beds. I was shocked to see that no one was in their beds except for the creepy hooded guy with a knife was in Jenny's bed. He picked up his knife and charged at me, but i dodged him just in time and he slammed in the wall.


He was knocked out cold. As he was out i saw a key card on the floor, and right in front of me ,I noticed a hidden door. I tried to push it open, but i couldn't, that's when i realised there was a card slot. I swiped my keycard and the door automatically popped open. My face was frozen still when I saw a whole pack of ghosts( the rumors were true). My chest nearly burst open when i saw what looked like a hive, and worst of all, everyone from the school was there. The ghosts then came charging towards me, but strangely they didn't attack. They explained to me that the germ was their protector, I was not listening to them, I grabbed a coin from my pocket and flicked at the ghosts. Stupid mistake, it went through him and out the other side.


I quickly escaped  just in time and i jumped on the platform next to the slimy,sticky, oozing with puss hive.I made the worst decision of my entire life. I began to bite a hole out of it. I was tearing away at it frantically, when I stopped i realised everyone manage to clamber out and was charging with all sorts of stationary. it just went through them. Germ came charging at me but the school bully risked his life and tackeled the germ into the fire. The ghosts pushed everyone into the fire and they all died. Except for me I snuck away and hit the self destruct button. I just jumped out of the gate in time before it exploded. It has been known as the death school. No one visits the school, until one day a crazy old chinese man lived in that house.... good luck for the old chinese man.
